Travelling
Millions of people all over the world spend their holidays travelling. They travel to see other continents and countries, modern cities and the ruins of ancient towns. They travel to enjoy picturesque places or just for a change of scene. It’s always interesting to discover new things, different ways of life, to meet different people, to try to different food, to listen to different musical rhythms.
Those who live in the country like to go to the big city, visiting museums and art galleries, going for shopping and dining at exotic restaurants. City-dwellers usually like acquired holiday by the sea or in the mountains, with nothing to do but walk and laze in the sun.
To stay at a hotel is more comfortable. You can enjoy being alone, to take a hot shower, to sleep in warm bed and many other advantages. Some people enjoy camping in tents. Of course, the weather must be good for that.
There are 2 viewpoints on travel. Some people like to go on one place and spend their holidays there. The place may be an interesting city, a picturesque village or some other attractive place. Others believe in seeing as much as possible in the time they have.
People may travel either for pleasure or on business. There are various methods of travelling. To travel by air is more comfortable, more convenient and, of course, far quicker than any other means. There is none of the dust and dirt of a railway or car journey. With a train you have speed, comfort and pleasure combined. Travelling by ship is also very popular now. It is very pleasant to feel the deck of the ship under the feet, to see the rise and fall of the waves, to feel the fresh sea wind blowing in the face and hear the cry of the seagulls. Many people like to travel by car. It is interesting, because you can see many filings in a short time, you can stop when and where you like, you do not have to buy tickets or carry your suitcases. A very popular method of travelling is hiking. It is travelling on foot. Hitch-hiking is a very popular method of travelling among young people. But it is not so popular in Russia because it’s not so safety as abroad.
All means of travel have their advantages and disadvantages. And people choose one according to their likes and dislikes, plans and destinations.
